Apple News Format supports a subset of Markdown syntax that you can use to format text in various components, including the author, body, byline, caption, heading, illustrator, intro, photographer, pullquote, and quote. You can use Markdown to add emphasis, strong emphasis, and strikethrough:

Emphasis (italics): Use single asterisks ( * ) or single underscores ( _ )
Strong emphasis (bold): Use double asterisks ( ** ) or double underscores ( __ )
Strikethrough: Surround with double tildes (~~)
